RESH Trains 300 Recruited Volunteers


The Renewed Energy Serving Humanity-RESH in collaboration with Playing to Live-Liberia over the weekend commenced an intensive eight-week psychosocial support enhancement training for three hundred (300) recruited volunteers.

The volunteers training under the theme 'Preparing to Serve Mama Liberia and Humanity' were recruited through a vetting process carried on early this month. The trainees are expected to cover at least ten (10) psychosocial support related courses over an intensive eight weeks period.

Courses earmarked for the training according to RESH Program Manager Mrs. Prisie J.Badu are the Historicity of RESH,Introduction to Psychosocial Counseling,Substance Abuse,Mental Health Issue,Volunteerism,Working with Children Faced with Traumatic Issues, Introduction to Guidance Counseling, Community Sensitization and Mobilization, Introduction to Social Works, Introduction to Advocacy, Introduction to Temperament Analysis, Parenting Skills and Styles,Introduction to Arts and Play Therapies, Trauma Awareness and Counseling, Child's Right, Introduction to Adolescent Behavior, Referral Methodology, and Gender Based Violence. Mrs. Badu further stressed that the listed courses are taught by qualified professionals with wealth of experience in the field of psychosocial support.

Upon the completion of the training,the three hundred (300) volunteers will be deployed in their communities to serve as RESH ambassadors charged with responsibilities of identifying basic psychosocial support related issues, providing beginners' services proportional to their training, and making the requisite referrals.

Speaking after the first day of training, the trainees overwhelmingly expressed the heartfelt gratitude to the management of RESH for the rare opportunity afforded them and sincerely asked all proactive Liberians,donors, and friends of Liberia to donate in all forms to this laudable initiative.
